PHOTO DIARY | Art Fair Philippines 2014 (Part 2 of 3)

(Continued from Part 1)

This is the second of three posts about the recently concluded Art Fair Philippines 2014. I know it maybe too late to catch it but I'm hoping to show you some of the artwork exhibited at the event just in case you're interested in anything. That said, you can check with the art galleries concerned.

"Sleepwalkers" by Genepaul Martin, Secret Fresh

Aren't they adorable? They remind me of our dear cats Kwittie Boy and Foreman. The artist responsible for them, Genepaul Martin, calls them "Sleepwalkers" and there's more of them in full color.

Of course I had no idea who the artist was. It was My Bibe who knew him through Instagram and she was most excited to meet the guy and see his work up close. Represented by Secret Fresh, he was the only artist featured in their über cute booth that resembled some whimsical fantasy land. He must be that special. Although I just tagged along, I share My Bibe's appreciation for Martin's oddly cute creations.

PHOTO DIARY | Art Fair Philippines 2014 (Part 1 of 3)

A piece by Iggy Rodriguez, Manila Contemporary

I'm no art afficionado and I'll be the first to admit I know very little to nothing about art, but I'm glad we went to the Art Fair Philippines 2014 last Saturday. I certainly had a good time, snapping photos away with my phone, and the Php 150 entrance sure was money well-spent.

The event ran from Feb. 20-23 with a special VIP preview last Feb. 19. It was held at the 6th and 7th levels of The Link car park. Only on its second year, Art Fair Philippines bills itself as the premier platform for exhibiting and selling the best in modern and contemporary visual art. The 2014 staging featured 28 galleries (I didn't even know we had a lot of art galleries in the Philippines!) and 7 solo exhibitions, none of which I recognize. Well, except for BenCab and Kenneth Cobonpue.

Although the exhibitors have already packed up, their respective galleries are still very much open, which is why I decided to still post these photos anyway.

[Lookbook 02.20.2014] Knotted, cuffed, and linked

ADM_2043

Our dear fluffy pants Kwittie Boy here just wants to be in the frame. Ironically when he's the one being photographed, he does not cooperate. So I take it that he's just messing with my OOTD shots. Oh cats.

Anyway, I tried inching myself closer to wearing corporate attire to work again. Though I didn't fully commit to it on my first try by ditching the tie (Wow, that rhymed!), I managed two days this week with a necktie. Today, however, it's a bow.

Lion dance on stilts at Resorts World Manila

Colorful as they are, I never really paid too much attention to Chinese dragon and lion dances. But that changed when I chanced upon a very different one last Saturday at the Newport Mall of Resorts World Manila--a lion dance on stilts!

A lion perched on a pole. Do I hear an "Aww...?"

Although not entirely new, these lion dances on stilts, I've just never seen one before. So to watch these Kun Seng Keng kids from Malaysia--who happen to be lion dance world champions, by the way--was pure delight. Resorts World Manila flew them in as part of their Imperial Festival celebrations.

[Lookbook 02.07.2014] Silver linings and greens

01ADM_2022

It was really bad I started the year sick and got confined for eight friggin' days at the hospital. But there's still a silver lining to it all, as I lost weight, however shallow and inane that may sound. Clothes that no longer fit me before are now back in rotation, like this pair of silver jeans here. It's actually a bit too big for me now around the waist. Still manageable with a belt, though.

[Lookbook 02.06.2014] Sweater weather no more

ADM_2017

With the abrupt end to our little tropical cold spell, I was kinda forced to move on from wearing sweaters all the time. I realized I haven't worn a tie in a very long time and I felt like going a little "corporate" once again. But I just wasn't ready to take the plunge yet, so I ditched the tie for now.

[Lookbook 01.30.2014] Dotted

01ADM_1943

Enjoyed a 3-day long weekend that was primarily spent at home. Thanks to the Chinese, Chinese New Year is a holiday in the Philippines. Now while they traditionally dress in red on this day, I didn't. Well, I'm not Chinese.
